Read the Scriptures Themselves
How do I get started reading the scriptures?
Worry less about how you read. Instead, put your energy into actually reading the scriptures.
Do not get caught in reading material about the scriptures. Instead, read the actual scriptures themselves. For example, spend more time reading the scriptures than reading this website.
In the past, I have not found studying the scriptures beneficial. Can you give some suggestions?
First, make sure that you have the proper motivations. Read about why you should study the scriptures.
Have a simple plan. Read a single book from the scriptures. Read this book for several days or weeks. Set aside some time every day to read.
I have not read the scriptures much. What should I read?
Begin reading the gospel of John. The gospel of John has only 21 chapters. If you read only three chapters per day, you can read the gospel of John in one week.
Read through the gospel five times.
I am ready to go deeper into the scriptures. What should I read?
Select a shorter book to read. For example, you could read Ruth, Obadiah, Malachi, Philemon, or 1 John.
Pick one. Read the whole book twice per day for a month.
